		<description>I couldn&#039;t agree more.  I think that it is important to take things that are going on in the world and make teachable moments out of them.  I don&#039;t think that this is focused on enough.  There are so many times that we are so concerned with district assessments and teaching to the test that we let the  teachable moments pass us by that our students are experiencing today or what they will experience in the near future.  Although I teach kindergarten I remember graduating from high school and feeling that there was still so much that I didn&#039;t know that I needed to know to survive and succeed.  I think that some of the topics that were noted in the blog you read should be touched upon in every classroom.  I think that it would really benefit the students and our country.
